Casting and carrying.

Trials are a part of life. They happen to everyone. Even if we do not want to admit it, we all go through trials sometime in our lives. Some seem greater than others. Some trials seem so unbearable that we scarcely find the strength to stand. It is through these times of trials that we may find our strength is not enough. We may even feel weak and unable to weather the trial on our own.

It is at those times that we need to look at what the bible says about how to handle our trials.
1 Peter 5 : 6-7
6. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
7. casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Psalm 55 : 22
22. Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

It is interesting that the bible refers to cares also as burdens. What did Jesus say about burdens?
Mathew 11 : 28-30
28. "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
29. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
30. "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.''

Wow, that is so wonderful! I just love this passage in Mathew 11. To me I can see a 3 step process.
1) Come to Jesus with your burdens and he will give you rest.
2) Give Jesus your burden. ( I personally think that the rest comes after we have given our burden to him).
3) Take up his yoke it is easy and his burden is light. (Our burden weighs us down, where as his burden lifts us up).

How else are we to handle our trials?: Well in Galatians we are encouraged to share our burdens with one another.
Galatians 6:2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Many of you are aware of my recent miscarriage in January. It has been for me, a very tough trial. I know some may not consider this a trial. I however have been struggling to understand or at least to find peace throughout all of this. I have gone through many trials before and yet have never felt so emotionally tired. In all of God's wisdom I know his plans are great. Even or especially when, I can not see them. I have to rely on my faith and trust in Jesus to help me through. I personally have felt hurt and abandoned. I know Jesus has not meant for me to feel this way. I know that we are to see our trials as a good thing.
James 1 : 2-3
2. My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
3. knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

In many ways I am sure I am in much need of patience. It is never easy to endure a trial. Then after enduring it, you have used up every ounce of strength and patience you could muster. I know that and that is why we need to rely on Jesus.

My personal trials I struggle with are some that were established years ago, while others are fresh and constant. My oldest son is very precious to me. Not just b/c he is my oldest but b/c he is autistic. He has struggled with this for most of his life. My husband and I have struggled with him and his autism. Although it should be easier to deal with, everyday is a new day and a new challenge. That trial for us is continual. For many years throughout my childhood my parents relationship has had many problems. ( All of which could have been corrected through faith in Jesus). Just a few years ago my mom choose to leave my father after 38 yrs of marriage. She sought a divorce and is now preparing to remarry another man. My father has already remarried another woman. My thoughts and convictions concerning this has not brought me closer to either parent. I actually have no close relationship with anyone from my extended family. It has been a difficult trial b/c my convictions are not shared by my family.

My faith and convictions have separated me from some of my family. It is b/c of my faith that I have found the courage and peace to trust in God and follow him with my whole heart.
Recently I have realized that my life is similar to what Jesus mentioned in Mathew 10: 34-39
34. "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.
35. "For I have come to `set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.'
36. "And `a man's foes will be those of his own household.'
37. "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
38. "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
39. "He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

I have been challenged by my trials to let go of the former and grasp and hold onto the eternal. , Though my heart is saddened over situations, and wished they were different. What is so amazing is that I have actually found abundantly more peace, strength and rest. It is all due to Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross.

Whatever trial you might be facing, please come to Jesus and lay it down and pick up his burden and believe me, you will find rest. I would love to help you bear your burden. Please contact me via comment and if you feel comfortable share a burden and I will lift you up in prayer.

Learning to Wait and Psalm 27.

I remember when I was in high school, I would retreat to my bedroom and read my bible. I would find so much encouragement and strength just through reading God's word. I would come away with such closeness b/c his word was spoken and speaking directly to my heart. I struggled with a few things as a teenager that I could not really discuss with my parents. What is obvious now, is that I struggled with belonging and feeling valuable and being loved.

I should interject here a little history of my teen years. First off there were four of us kids. All within 5 yrs. I was a middle child with two older sisters and one younger brother. I had some previous learning problems yet was a good student and behaved well also. My oldest sister and brother both had problems in which took my mom's time and attention. I was pretty much aware of this and instead of leaning on her I leaned on God and a youth teacher who was like the "mom" of our youth group. I was not a popular person at school. I never had a boyfriend at school. I struggled with belonging and feeling valuable and being loved. Only slightly aware that I was more than valuable to God. I learned through youth group and camp that purity was important and a daily devotional was necessary to live a christian life. Communicating with the Lord was my most cherished moments as a teen. I have to confess here that my family was dysfunctional and many unnecessary things took place. Fights between my parents were a normal occurrence. I would often retreat to my bedroom and pray and read my bible in hopes to alleviate the arguing. One time I can recall singing praise songs in my room on my knees at my bed and my mom bursting into my room telling me, "stop that". I knew what I was doing at that point was not only right but bringing glory to God. It was not at all my desire to make my mom made but to find peace in the midst of a storm. In those years God was my peace.

Throughout my teen years I knew that my strength lied with my relationship with God / Jesus. I would find strength, hope and peace in reading my Bible, praying and praising Jesus. I knew whatever problem or struggle I had I could trust and rely on HIM.

Of all things now I recall those moments and a verse that I remember reading that uplifted me so much was found in Psalm 27 : 14 NAS version
Wait for the Lord;
Be strong, and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord.

Psalm 27 : 14 NKJ version
Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!

I always found it interesting that the "Wait on the Lord" part was repeated. Maybe b/c there in lies the secret of everything we desire or are anxious for. If we truly wait on the Lord w/ out being anxious or nagging in prayer but truly wait on God, all things will come to be.

I find myself at the threshold of this verse having to somewhat relearn what I so easily learned so many years ago. Wait on the Lord; take courage, He will strengthen your heart Yes wait on Me!

I know how loving our Heavenly Father is and can be. In the midst of uncertain times we can find confidence in his word. Not plagued with fears and doubts but faith and hope in what or rather who holds our future. Why is it though, if we already know this, that at times in our lives this remains a struggle?

God never says we are entitled to know what he has in store for us. Rather he said he will never leave us nor forsake us. I am glad not to know all the details b/c his presence is more than enough to foreshadow joy and hope. I still need to remind myself that a Daily Devotional and even a Praise Time are important. Even with the busy life of a mother, there should always be time for Jesus.

Are you making time to commune with God/ Jesus? It only takes a few minutes to lay your concerns before him in prayer. Then pick up your BIBLE and allow his spirit to feed into you the strength, hope, peace and joy that can only be found in walking daily with Jesus your LORD.

Sacrifical Love.

As wives and mothers we usually put ourselves last. Everyone's needs are met and fulfilled before we even begin to care for ourselves. I am like that and probably most of my friends who are moms and wives would agree.

Why are we like that? Is is b/c we don't think about our needs, No. Is it b/c our families are so demanding we just have to get them off our backs by caring for them first, maybe. But could it be that we are just sacrificing our own needs briefly b/c we care so deeply and so much for our families. YES.

I dearly love everyone of my children completely and totally equally. I could not tell you which child is my favorite. I could not tell you which one I would miss more if they were not in my life. I could not tell you who loves me more b/c they all show me their love in there own individual way.

I also whole heartedly love my dh so much that I do not think I could withstand any trial or struggle with out him by my side. I have grown to love him so much more today than yesterday. Our relationship has really matured in the past 6-7 yrs than any other time. I know and believe it is all b/c of God.

It is b/c of God's love for us that we can even understand what true love is. Or even how to love the ones he has given us. Jesus in our example to be the best wives, mothers, helpmets and caregivers. He has shown us through his ministry how to teach those we care about. How to show how much we care, by putting others first. He has shown us how much we can recieve by giving of our selves, our time, and our hearts.

I know that God has a purpose for all of our lives. We quiet possibly do not know what that is. That is perfectly planned that way. God wants us to be surprised by how he plans to care, teach, love us through his word and actions of love toward us. (Also through faith and trust in HIM).

Sometimes it is hard to see or understand this. I even had a struggle with that myself. Especially when we feel he has treated us unjustly. I know that it is our human nature to look at the bad and feel sorry for ourselves. I know that sometimes a pity party seems enjoyable. Not so to God. It does not matter what we think we should have. He knows us better than we know ourselves, he knows what is best and sees what path is best for us even when we can not.

I struggle not just with grief b/c of the miscarriage, but with other feelings of sadness, enviousness and jealousy. I see others who either have little babies or are pregnant and just sink b/c in my mind I want that back. I hear over the grocery store intercom the advertisement of items and how beneficial they are to a pregnant mother and helping her have a great pregnancy. I just wonder if those advertisers realize that not all mothers are in control of what happens while they are pregnant. I know it is the hardest thought a mother has after a miscarriage, "what did I do wrong to cause this"? Why do we always suspect we are at fault? Could it just be that God knows what we need and granted that for us without consulting us. Does God even have to get our approval when he decides to work out his will in our lives?

My biggest thing is that I want what I can not have. I want my baby, I want to feel my baby growing and kicking in side my belly. I want..I want... I want...

God says, "No or Not Now". "I have other plans for you my child", replies God. He knows the pain is great, but no matter what we feel we have lost, HE has lost more. He knows our sorrow and especially what it feels like to give up a child or a son. He has given more. Why b/c he truly loves us. He sacrifices for us b/c that is what true love does, it is sacrificial.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Jesus is the picture of true love. God is the best example of a sacrificing parent. Beautiful!

Faith is....

Lately I have been really leaning on my faith and trust in my Almighty God and Father. I wanted to share what Faith to me is. Then also follow up with what the Bible says about Faith.

Faith to me is many things. As a child faith can be real simple. Children by nature are really trusting. That is until they feel uncertain or let down by their trust in something or someone. I believe our Faith matures and we grow in Faith towards God and Jesus due to our situations, trials and struggles we face.

By God's design Faith is suppose to increase and lead us to a stronger more developed relationship with HIM. Often though situations, trials and struggles may do the opposite. I have known and seen how trials and struggles have lead people away from God and decreased their Faith. More often they have allowed their Faith to be stolen or lost among the troubles of this life.

Sadly this is a common response to the trials we face. Instead of building up our Faith the trials tear our faith and families apart. We allow our trials to become bigger than our God. Especially in today's uncertain economic crisis we focus on our problems or solutions to our problems than focusing on our God who by Faith in HIM gives us all the hope we need in dealing with our problems.

I personally believe that our struggles are meant to get us off of our selves and problems and on the only one solution to them, God. I know that our human minds believe that we are in control of our lives. Not so. In fact, that thought could not be any further from the truth. What needs to be our reaction, or my reaction to my latest trial? It is to raise my head, raise my hands focus on God and praise and Thank him for his ever constant care and watchfulness.

God is so wonderful. In our sorrow we need to recognize how his merciful hand reaches down toward us and protects us in many ways we can not see. I am trying to focus on God and not on my own sadness. Something I have to remember is, that in my sadness God is here with me.

Faith is :
Believing with out seeing.
Hopeful.
Trusting in God.
Not having all the answers, but believing God is more than able.
Knowing the one who gives Peace eternal.
Not fearful.
Calming.
Everything pertaining to Eternal Life.

Here are just a few scriptures to encourage your Faith in Jesus.

HABAKKUK 2:4
See, he is puffed up; his desires are not upright- but the righteous will live by his faith.

MATHEW 9:22
Jesus turned and saw her, "Take heart, daughter," he said " your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment.

MATHEW 17:20
He replied, " Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard see, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.
2 CORINTHIANS 1:24b
because it is by faith you stand firm.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:7
We live by faith, not by sight.

GALATIANS 3:11
Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, b/c "The righteous will live by faith."

HEBREWS 10:38
But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.

HEBREWS 11:1 (The whole chapter is great)
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

HEBREWS 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, b/c anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that be rewards those who earnestly seek him.

2 TIMOTHY 4;7
I have fought the goon fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

JAMES 2:26
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

May be you have a favorite Faith verse. I would love to hear it. May be you could share that verse with someone who you know is struggling with a difficult problem. What they need is Faith in God and not in themselves that will provide them with eternal peace. See that it is eternal peace, not an instant peace. Through time and Faith peace can come instantly. All due to our Faith and walk with Jesus.

Happy Easter (Belated).

I hope everyone had a very Happy Easter. We certainly did, although it was a very busy day. What a wonderful celebration of Life of Christ and especially the Life we have in him since he conquered the grave.

Here are a few things we did with our sons this weekend to teach them about Jesus and to prepare them for the Resurrection Celebration. I had a wonderful time with my sons Friday night making Resurrection Cookies. Not the tastiest cookies but the process was quite interesting and spiritually informative. (I will post that recipe, unless you are momys with a cookbook and you can find it under the cookie section.) This was a great way to incorporate scripture and baking to emphasize the arrest, trial, death and resurrection of Jesus. With the addition of each ingredient you read a corresponding scripture and then ending up with the cookies in the oven, turning off the temp. and leaving them in the oven overnight with duct tape on the sides of the oven symbolizing that the tomb was sealed shut. If you want a new Easter tradition to do with the children, that doesn't involve the coloring of Easter Eggs and the Easter Bunny than this is recipe is for you. (I even got my 2yr old daughter to participate.)

Well this weekend has been a tiring one. So I apologize for not keeping up with the posts. I will try to get plenty of sleep and keep up better this following week.

I had a great talk today with a sweet person today. I find myself in a comfortable yet not so new position. With out to much detail, I have some similar issues in common with this sweet person. B/c I am a bit older and wiser due to my experiences dealing with these issues, I was able to offer a helpful insight. I know what I was saying hit home b/c the tears were present. What I was encouraging her to do was very sensitive yet also very beneficial. It really touched me to know that what I was offering her to do was just what I am trying to do myself. I think though it is much harder for this sweet person to learn and do simply b/c she doesn't have the support at home. I really think God gives us our trials and situations so that we can help encourage and support others either just beginning the journey we are one and half way through.

God is so good. He knows the best way we can understand healing is by helping others and get our minds off our own problems and offer sound advice to to those who are looking for some.

Well a few prayer concerns, my fil is flying out this week for six weeks he will be in OHIO, our car is looking like it needs some repairs, and this sweet person who needs to find and rest in the joy and peace of Jesus.

Awesome Movie!

Wow. I just watched a wonderful family movie that is just fabulous. It is another Fox Faith family movie, which was directed by Michael Landon Jr. What a powerful movie and such touching biblical overtones. The movie in reference is, "The Last Sin Eater". If you haven't seen it please try b/c you will not be disappointed. This movie has it all; mystery, love, betrayal, history, forgiveness and truth. The message of this movie is so powerful, that it just stays in your brain with many after thoughts. I am so glad my dh encouraged me to watch it.

I just have to share the tag line; this movie is about redemption and the only one capable of giving us true redemption is Jesus Christ. I have to share just a little part of a scene from this movie. In the middle or so the main character, a young girl, is in a cave talking to the other main character, a man. She shares an idea with him that is a bit saddening to him . If it is true what she says, then the last 20 yrs of his life was wasted and lived in vain. The sad thing was that he didn't want to believe, but if he did believe IT would change his life completely.I thought this to be so powerful, considering most people live their lives in vain and wasted on things that truely don't matter. If they could only believe in Jesus how their lives would change completely.

I don't want to discuss too much as to spoil those who haven't seen it. I have not seen a movie as wonderfully touching spiritually speaking, as this one did. I am amazed I even watched it considering I hardly watch any movies. Usually one in a great while. I enjoyed this movie so much that I am going to seek after the book. I would have to imagine that the book is either close to or better than the movie.

Just another reason why Christian families should support the Fox Faith Ministries. When we hear of movies coming out from their production company we should check them out and tell many others to do the same. It is sad that there aren't many other venues like this one. So if we want to encourage them to make more we need to support the ones already existing.

This movie has quickly become one of my favorites. The message was one that really touched me. The mystery part was saddening, but the ending was just beautiful.

I am not one to tell others what to do, but you need to see this movie. It will certainly become one of your favorites as well.

The power and wisdom of the Proverbs. (Part 1)

Well in our daily reading we are in Luke 12 and Proverbs 19. I just wanted to share a few key thoughts that are pro founding and chalked full of God's wisdom. (Most of these were strongly touching and convicting to my heart.)

Proverbs 1:7
7. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 2 :10-12
10. When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
11. discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you,
12. to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things,
Proverbs 3:5-10
5. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
6. in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
7. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil.
8. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.
9. Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase;
10. so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
Proverbs 4;20-22
20. My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.
21. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart;
22. For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.
Proverbs 6;20-23
20. My son, keep your father's command, and do not forsake the law of your mother.
21. Bind them continually upon your heart; tie them around your neck.
22. When you roam, they will lead you; when you sleep, they will keep you; and when you awake, they will speak with you.
23. For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light; reproofs of instruction are the way of life,
Proverbs 7;1-2
1. My son, keep my words, and treasure my commands within you.
2. Keep my commands and live, and my law as the apple of your eye.
Proverbs 8:17
17. I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me.
Proverbs 9:8-9
8. Do not reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you; rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.
9. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning
Proverbs 10:27-32
27. The fear of the Lord prolongs days, but the years of the wicked will be shortened.
28. The hope of the righteous will be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.
29. The way of the Lord is strength for the upright, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.
30. The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not inhabit the earth.
31. The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut out.
32. The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.

I hope you find these just as inspiring as I did. I know that as we read so many verses just speak directly to my heart. If when I read it the first time and it strikes me as applicable to my life or to my children's lives then I go ahead and read it twice or sometimes three times.

I am so glad that God's word is alive and breathing life into us as we read it. No other book can compare to it. God's word is so challenging and corrective that it gives us the complete joy of knowing how it is having it's affect on our lives. If we read something that we needed to hear chances are it wasn't by mistake that we read it...

Glad to know there are no coincidences, luck or chance when reading God's word. Every person who reads will find something in it that will ultimately change his/her life. That is how God designed it and that is exactly what Jesus is all about.

Remember this song:
The B I B L E yes that is the book for me, I stand alone on the word of God; the B I B L E, the Bible.

Years ago my dh and I were watching a Christian movie, "Joshua". Maybe you have seen it too. Well in it the man Joshua is like Jesus, he performs miracles and shows several people the truth through his love and light. In it he says this phrase about the Bible, "the bible stands for, Basic Truths Before Leaving Earth." That always makes me smile....

Have a very wonderful day in the Lord.

Playing Catch-Up!

First off, I would like to apologize for my absentee behavior. Although my reason for not posting (is explained in my post, "Heavy Heart") is understandable, it certainly isn't proper Blog Etiquette. Especially for most bloggers, a minimum of 2-3 post a day is proper Blog Etiquette. I have decided to play catch-up for not commenting on anything in the last several weeks of February.

In the weeks of my absence I was able to accomplish much. For starters, I have struggled with discipline. Not in my parenting, but in my scheduling. I needed to figure out how to stick to a routine or schedule that met my needs along with my children's. Praise the Lord for showing me just how to do that. I have implemented that in the past month to form a habit (anything done in a 21 day time frame) of being consistent. I guess it's our brains that need the structure and if we continue in a pattern of consistency then our brains are able to comprehend our actions either intentional or unintentional.

I have been reading from the New Testament to my five sometimes six children everyday (depends on if the baby is napping). So far I have missed only one day (yesterday). I have them sit for 20 minutes or more and read 1-3 chapters from the New Testament and now a chapter from Proverbs. That alone, the insight from Proverbs is enough to have me keeping writing and keeping your thoughts occupied for a long time. So much truth can be found in the Proverbs. We are currently in Luke chapter 8 and Proverbs 17.

What a blessing it has been to read to my children and simultaneously hear the Word myself. My goal in reading through the New Testament, is to teach my children to sit still, to be reverent to God and his word, and to show obedience to me when I have a need that needs to be met. So often as mother's we spend most of our days meeting everyone else's needs and not our own. Well this mom needs to have her needs met and the only way possible is to teach my children to help me met my needs, along with me meeting theirs too. It will also give us a closeness, which I believe is only possible through being in the word with others. Such as with, Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
No other book I know has that kind of power. Plus the Bible is my favorite book and is so applicable for shaping our lives.

This past week my dh and I have begun our work out program. It is a system we have owned and used before. It is called "Power 90" a work out system designed by Tony Horton. It is great to have a work out partner and makes the exercise much more bearable b/c of the support. What is great about the system is that it is only a 90 day commitment. It combines a cardio workout with a weight training workout that also includes 100 sit ups the first 45 days and 200 sit ups the last 45 days. If not a great way to loose weight, but a great way to tone up and get fit.

On top of that, I am trying to balance eating healthier and drinking a greater volume of water. I am hoping to strengthen and discipline my mind, body and spirit. By getting spiritually fit and physically fit my mind is all that is left to be shaped or to do the shaping.

This week I am being more active in my home-educating. I have decided to set goals in my teaching to help my child feel accomplished and enthusiastic about learning. Teaching my Autistic son has always been a creative challenge. I am positive and prepared to encourage his mind awakening. Along with my other 3 sons and 2 yr old daughter. Not leaving anyone out of the learning process. Even little baby Jehosheba is going to be challenged by strengthening her body and finding new toys and things to focus on.

This past week I have been doing lessons on Butterflies. We made a giant tissue paper butterfly and taped it to the wall. Learning 3 simple facts about the butterfly and about the different types of butterflies and the process of how a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. My sons have been delighted in the activities and the projects that I am using to encourage their involvement in learning about the beautiful butterflies of God's creation.

One such activity was hand painting and foot painting in the shape of a butterfly. First I set up two foot buckets with a water proof pad underneath. Then I poured yellow paint into the lid of a disposable metal pie plate (round for the hands to fit into), then also two long plastic dishes big enough to press feet into. I poured turquoise paint into one and blue into the other. I set my children one by one at their little table and place their hands at or near the top of their paper, (both in yellow). Next one foot in blue and one in turquoise and upside down I place each foot situated to shape a butterfly. After they were done we soaked their feet and hands in the foot buckets. They loved it. I periodically soak my feet especially when I am pregnant. So being able to soak their feet like mom was a treat for them.

Trying to make learning exciting and fun. Also to showing my sons another side of their mom, the creative side.

I find it interesting how Jesus taught his disciples and how he made learning for them by seeing. He taught by using his words, but more so by his actions. Hence my other main objective , is to teaching my sons by showing them the example that will produce the life worthy of Jesus and his sacrifice for us on the cross.

What is in a Name? Part 1

Just a few thoughts about names and what is really behind a name? I for one believe that God knows my baby or little one better than I do. After all in Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you." So if God knows my child then he can guide me to a suitable name for my child.

A name is a peculiar thing. It will remain w/ a person until they either marry, or until they die. I for one believe there is a personality definition that accompanies a name. A name is usually the first thing people hear from you after they shake your hand. When you need to sign a document you sign your name. When it is your birthday friends and family will sing to you with your name in the song. Your name if it doesn't describe who you are eventually does become who you are.

After all Jesus has the most powerful name of all. In Philippians 2:9-11 "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Wow! Now that is powerful. Of course none of are names will be as powerful or descriptive as Jesus name is. However we can bestow on our children names that are strong and courageous and have a powerful force behind them. Mostly b/c of where they come from or what their meanings are.

With all of our children my dh and I took a serious thought into what we should name our unborn child. Of course these days we have to think about popularity and the commonness of the last name. Also is the name or list of names really a fit for the personality of the child or even the personality that we want for our child.

I am blessed to have been able to birth 6 individuals (so far, would welcome more if the Lord chooses). My dh and I have prayed continually over the names we have picked for our unborn child. If it really the best choice of a name we can find. We are so thankful that we have trusted and followed the guidance the Lord has provided. Our children are not only what their names are described or defined as but their personalities are also depicted by their name.

Sometimes though a person will end up with nicknames not at all related to their given name. Friends or family members will give a shortened version of the given name or just give a pet name they personally call the person, ( on a intimate level).

We however can call Jesus many names, either on an intimate level or b/c they are descriptions of his given name. Such as : Wonderful Counselor, Great Physician, Shepherd, Almighty God, Redeemer, YahWeH , Alpha and Omega, King of Kings, Messiah, Sovereign Lord, Prince of Peace and the Everlasting Father. All are descriptions of Jesus character and who he is and continues to be. No other name can compare to HIS name.

Thank you Heavenly Father for giving your son such a wonderful name!
